Guehi was on the verge of securing a move to Anfield on deadline day but Palace pulled the plug on the deal in the 11th hour. England maintained their 100 per cent win record in the 2026 World Cup qualifiers as they registered a thumping 5-0 victory over Serbia in a difficult away fixture on Tuesday. Harry Kane opened the scoring for the Three Lions before Noni Madueke doubled their lead in the first half. Ezri Konsa, Guehi and Rashford then scored in the second half to complete the rout.

Guehi, who had picked up a groin problem in England's previous clash against Andorra last week, was initially doubtful for the clash, but he eventually did take the field and contributed with a goal. The Palace star received heavy praise from manager Tuchel, who called the defender the "best team-mate".
