According to , Hojlund's overriding desire is to stay at Old Trafford. A sale isn't completely off the table, but the Danish striker is only expected to change his mind if United decide to advance talks to push him towards a new club.

Having scored a respectable 10 Premier League goals in his debut season in England, Hojlund only managed four in 2024-25. His struggles were characteristic of an extremely disappointing for the whole squad, but the Dane has taken more than his fair share of criticism given the hefty price tag he joined for in 2023. As it stands, United have spent big money on Matheus Cunha and are still trying to bring in Bryan Mbeumo, but neither would be considered a direct replacement for Hojlund in the number nine role.
